After the second inaugural, we glanced over as the crowds were dispersing, and horses were helping out right outside the Smithsonian art museum! So, we interacted with these brave wonderful animals and then had a wonderful lunch in the Smithsonian, and then viewed beautiful art, including some of my very favorite Vincent Van Gogh pieces!

Inauguration 2013: Mounted Police Horses Helping with Inauguration!
We saw so many mounted police horses helping with inauguration when we were in DC that weekend. It was very exciting. And what was super exciting is that there was one small horse who reminded me very much of Renny. For sure, Renny would be an awesome police horse!

Inauguration 2013: True Grit, Baby!
On our first day, we were getting ready to head home after playing at the Capitol. And we came upon these statues at the Metro stop to home. And I was just blown away that they had a lion statue with the quote from True Grit -- "The wicked flee when no man pursueth but the righteous are bold as a lion!" Really made my entire trip!

Inauguration 2013: Our Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial!
On one of the days we visited DC, my godmother and I spent a day together, walking and visiting memorials. We visited the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and it was packed with happy people. They were there to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Rev. King's "I have a Dream" speech and the second inauguration of President Obama. We had a very festive morning at this moving memorial. And then what was exciting was that we discovered that every quote engraved along the memorial's facades are direct quotes, except for a single paraphrased one which was so controversial that it's going to be removed! So, we got to see it before it's forever obliterated from its surfaces!

Inauguration 2013: At the Capitol!
On the first day of our visit to DC, we started out at the White House and then strolled to the Lincoln Memorial and then walked the length of the Mall to the Capitol. And when we got to the Capitol, we got excited because we realized that in a few days, this is where the deal would go down! So exciting! 4 more years!

Before the inauguration, we just relaxed at the Lincoln Memorial. We had a gorgeous day for our visit. And I got to sit with my godmother at the exact place where Martin Luther King, Jr. stood for his "I had a dream" speech!

Inauguration 2013: Mrs. Obama's Kitchen Garden!
This past year, I attended President Obama's second inauguration with my godmother, Anita, and my Uncle Rick and cousin Audrey. On our very first morning, we started our adventure at the White House and I was so excited to see Mrs. Obama's kitchen garden. I just love her gardening and Let's Move initiatives!
