Renny and B Reunited!

So, B spent the summer as an outdoor filly over at Meghan's farm. But Meghan brought her back this Fall and Renny was so glad to have her back. He's still in love with his girl and remembers her from his winter and spring shenanigans!!

I just can't explain to you how happy I am to know Renny. I can't tell you how happy I was to sleep at the Hintz farm, waiting for his birth. Going into the stable every few hours and seeing my big old thoroughbred girl, sacked out and snoring, and Hailee all uncomfortable and restless. And then going into that stable that one rainy evening and seeing his little hooves and just knowing that he was coming. And even in his very very very very first few moments of life, he was just so exactly like himself -- such the little Renny from the very beginning. Namaste.

My Bright Red Little Man!

Here is a beautiful photo of my bright red pony. He makes me so happy just by being his own sweet pony self. And here's a picture of his girlfriend, B. You would think she is shy, but she is coming into her thoroughbred Bowman's Band nature. So, she is pretty darn bossy with Ren and likes to shove him, bite him, rear on him and kick him. And he just eats it up with a spoon! He loves his wild girl!

My Shiny Red Boy and His Bright Girl!

Okay, so I'm writing this entry on July 19th and here's a photo of little Ren taken in June. So, here's a funny little story about my man. On Saturday, July 18th, I went out to Showgate after going to the Farmers Market and I was bringing B and Ren out to their side pasture. They hadn't been out in a day, so B was full of herself. She began to rear and crow hop and so I let go of Renny's lead line because I wanted to make sure she made it into the pasture. The line got caught beneath his legs, so he pulled against me and she began to run, so he got excited and broke free of me. Once he realized he was free, he did these high-legged, high-tailed galloping circuits around and around me and then up and down the fence line. He would stop to kiss B and then she would bolt because she was nervous to be on the other side of the fence from him, and he'd start his high-tailed sprints all over again! Totally adorable in the sun, looking like a prized NASPR pony, all athletic and high-spirited. And his expression said it all! In equal measures of glee and fear, his face said, "Grandma! Look at me! Look at me! I'm free! I'm free!" He wanted to be free and then he wanted me to catch him and restore him to his rightful place in the pasture by his B. So, at one point, he did this slow motion sprint by me and put his face by me, so I hooked his halter and he stopped dead in his tracks and went quietly into the pasture. He was so relieved that he rolled luxuriously in the dirt twice in the space of 5 minutes. Happy wild boy!

Here they are, the most adorable little duo at Showgate. Renny who loves his grandma and his girlfriends, Sedona and B, and his Auntie, Violet, and his mama, Hailee, and anyone who will give him a little time. He's just delicious with his flaxen mane and kissing freckle!

Renny's Growing Responsibilities

This photo is from the first week in June and I'm writing this entry on June 19th, in the evening, as I can hear a summer thunderstorm rolling. This past week, Mr. Valentine and Tom finished a truly beautiful wood round pen. I am glad for this new structure because at the end of the summer, Renny has to assume greater responsibilities. He was precocious at leading and tying and lifting his feet and dealing with the farrier. He is happy to go anywhere with grandma and cross any structure. He will walk in and stand in the wash rack. He loves grooming. He loves to follow his aunt while she's being ridden! He knows how to escape pastures and be a mountain goat. He will calmly wear his cavesson and surcingle. He's an accomplished pony. But by the end of the summer, possibly as you are reading this note, he will have to start learning Parelli, lunging, and the art of ground manners and ground work. What a wonderful little hard-working man. I hope he enjoys his summer!

My Yearling and His Gal(s)

So, last year at this exact time, Renny was getting ready to be grabbed by his chest and tail and pulled squealing like a human baby onto a trailer to be shipped to Showgate where he would meet Ruthie, his first girlfriend. My heart burst with joy when I took that photo of his first tentative, close-eyed kiss. Many moons and kisses have passed, along with many girlfriends -- Ruthie, Sedona, B, Tea, Lily! He has had an active love life! Here he is in the first week of June, hanging out with his thoroughbred girl! And now in mid-June, I was out at the stable this week, watching him with B hanging by his rear in one pasture while he kissed and spooned with Sedona over the pasture fence. The boy has love in his life!

Renny Lets it Rip!

Here's a photo of my 13-month old yearly, relaxing with his tall leggy girlfriend. She's so beautiful and he's handsome and sweet. That's what the pictures show. The video shows my little guy, feeling his oats, and ripping around the pasture! He's so handsome when he runs canters cavorts and squeals with fake rage while bucking!!

Check it out! Even with her coat wrinkled from a good rain, this girl looks beautiful. Up close in life, she's radiant with long thoroughbred legs, an intelligent expression, huge hindquarters, and big big knees getting ready to grow even bigger and taller. This girl has engine!
