My Little Orange Firecracker

Here is a photo taken on January 4, 2008 of my little baby Rory who we eventually renamed as Orangeina.  She was a bellowing demanding hungry scared kitten who was sort of hiding in a barn on the corner and very cold in the snow.  She was so loud early on a dark morning when I was walking Zelia.  It took me the day to catch her and then I kept her overnight in my bathroom.  You can see her in that bathroom, giving me an imperious look.  I took her to the Humane Society the next morning, but I felt they just wouldn't know how to keep her, so I snatched her from the attendant's hands and brought her home.  Because that's how we roll in the Sanchez home, as we're waiting on our first foal to be born!!!

Rory's First Days!

Here is a January 26th, 2008 photo of Rory, in the very first few days when she arrived.  What a busy year we had!  We got a wonderful new kitten and a wonderful new foal!  Namaste.

A Teensy Bit of Fluff!

Here is a January 4, 2008 photo of little Rory, otherwise currently known as Orangeina.  Look at that face.  That kitten drove me crazy.  I was feeling overwhelmed because I was getting ready to have three horses and had so many home companions and then found this scrap in the snow just belting out whining complaints.  I picked her up, but then found the Humane Society an absolutely inappropriate place for such a treasure, so brought her home. And look at her.  Who the h*ll could get rid of a little face like that one!  Namaste.

Cute Cat Rory!

Here's a photo of my sweet little orange kitten. She's so very serious about her morning breakfast. And she has been negotiating with me for weeks about having "brinner," ever since she saw that Scrubs episode. The girl loves her Fancy Feast!

Happy Earth Day!

Many blessings to you and yours on this Earth Day! As you know, my home is filled with joy. Jackie and Zelia still rule the roost and my heart and are doing well though they are entering their wise years. Moibeal and Arcangelo are delightful and sweet. And we have the new wonderful little orange kitten, my Orangegina, my little Rory. Can hardly believe that it was a bitterly cold, snow-filled early morning in January when she first came into our lives.

My horse, Violet, is a beautiful healthy thoroughbred who is excited about learning how to jump, go over ground poles, and be lovely. And my Hailee is working on being a mother! She's carrying her foal and will deliver this spring. We are blessed and glad to say Namaste to you all!

Today I am going to rake and clear my garden, and till up the grass and weeds, and get some poop from both H and V for my composting, and plan my little gardening for this year! Much love, much love, looking forward to looking out at my garden from my back door, as I can, can, can my little gifts from our Mother Earth!

My Little Stoners

I'd forgotten that I had planted lots of catnip this year and then dried and bagged it. So, in late February, I am looking in my pantry and find this fragrant bag. I pull it out, crumble the leaves for my cats, and they engage in a little feline Woodstock. You could practically hear the 60s music down the block. Arcangelo is the worst one. He just covers himself in catnip and radiates his goofy sexiness.
Such little stoners! And they even taught Rory how to party on!

Cute Rory on a cold Saturday Morning!

Here's my new kitten shortly after she was adopted in January. She's enjoying a cold early Saturday morning in this photo. I was getting ready to go visit my equine girls and Rory gave me a morning greeting.
