Driver Training, Hitched and Rolling!

This morning, I went out to the stable very early and let my little herd roam about for 45 minutes and then rode Violet in the cold and quiet for 25 minutes at a brisk trot, circling, serpentining, figure-8ing, extending. She let out these relaxed whickers as we trotted in our peace. And then, when Barbie and Tom arrived, we harnessed her, put her between the shafts, and then we hitched her and took her around the ring several times. I got to sit in that cart and drive my little sweet mare. Violet was wonderful, choosing to be mellow, kind, and careful. She worked with concentration as she placed each foot carefully, feeling for how the cart felt, the shafts, and the turns! Smart brave girl! In these photos, you see Barbie and Violet taking a turn!
