Here is a stone and plaque honoring the memory of Lucky Debonair, ridden by Willie Shoemaker to win the roses for his mom and dad, Ada and Daniel Rice, in 1965. He went on to a rich and successful breeding career, and was sold by his mom in 1975, after his dad died. He lived the remainder of his days in Venezuela, also serving as a stud successfully. He died at a ripe old age in 1987. And he was honored at Danada in 2002 with this plaque.
My girl, Violet is closely related to him. Lucky Debonair's damsire is Count Fleet! So, there you go...
